He often says, “You will always find me where the pavement ends…” His adventures include many national parks like Zion, Yosemite, Glacier, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountain, Redwood, Death Valley, Canyonlands, Arches, Great Smoky Mountains, and many more. But his favorite places are the unknown, hidden gems of nature only found when he is exploring.

Because of the extensive time Michael spends in nature exploring remote, unexplored trails in the western United States, he has seen the most stunning scenery. He has also experienced the most adverse conditions in nature imaginable including, wildfires, blizzards, gale-force winds, lightning, desert dust storms, driving rain & hail, and unimaginable heat and cold. One of his sayings is, “Nature doesn’t care about you. It’s up to you to be prepared to go into nature.” He knows when to go into nature…and when to get out! Michael always assumes there is the possibility that a day-hike could end up as an overnight. He always brings food, water, first aid kit, GPS, maps, and an emergency 2-way satellite messenger device.
