North Rim Majesty FreeView
The creation of the Grand Canyon dates back approximately six million years. Over these millions of years, the Colorado River slowly eroded the land beneath it forming the spectacularly deep canyon. The canyon’s average depth is 4,000 feet deep and is 277 miles long, with a wide variety of ecosystems living all throughout the canyon.
The Grand Canyon became a National Park on February 26, 1919. The Grand Canyon is bigger than the state of Rhode Island.
The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is located in northwest corner of Arizona. It is open from mid-May to November. Only 10% of the 5 million visitors to the Grand Canyon visit the North Rim because of its remote location.
